Google is rolling out ‘Express backup’

The popular search engine giant, Google is rolling out ‘Express Backup’ which is basically a faster way to back-up Google Photos.

While Google Photos is an extremely important utility for a lot of Android and iOS users that backs-up their original photos in high quality, it can sometimes take longer to back-up or miss some photos due to various reasons which makes the overall user experience slightly intrusive. According to Google, a third of people in India who use Google photos have some photos that weren’t backed up. Going by user experience, a lot of users from around the world have experienced this issue.

To counter this problem, Google has come with a new service to streamline back-up photos with a seamless experience. Google is now offering a new back up option in the Google photos called ‘Express Backup’. This option will now provide a faster back up at a low resolution. The backing-up of photos at a low resolution will make it easier for the photos to upload even when the user has poor or infrequent Wi-Fi connectivity as the reduced resolution compresses the image to 3MP while the video is reduced to 480p.

The option was originally rolled out to a small number of people in India, last year as part of testing. Now that it has been proven successful Google is rolling out this feature to a lot more people in the Asian region. Google has also confirmed that it will bring this feature to a lot more countries.

It should also be mentioned that the search engine giant is also planning to introduce a new ‘Data Cap’ option for backup that provides users a lot more control on for monitoring and controlling their cellular data on daily basis by giving the users the option to set-up how much mobile data should be used for back-ups. These options include 5MB, 10MB, 30MB, unlimited and as well as Wi-Fi only option.

Facebook adds quoted replies in Messenger to better organize group chats

Facebook is finally adding a much-needed chat feature of WhatsApp to the Facebook Messenger.

Facebook Messenger’s new update will now allow users to quote and reply to specific messages in a conversation, making it easier to keep track of important things and discussions (especially in larger group chats), as reported by VentureBeat.

The newly added feature is actually an expansion of the existing reaction emojis. In this new feature when you hold down on a message, you will be able to add a reaction, or tap on the “reply” option and add a reply to that specific message. The message that you reply will appear at the top of your sent message, so it will still show up at the bottom of the chat as usual. However, the message you’re replying to will be quoted in a slightly lighter texture, ensuring that members of the chat know what you’re talking about. We have tested the feature and it’s working fine for us.

As for the mobile users, if you want to quote a specific message, long tap on it or just simply slide it right and you’ll see a new “Reply button” to the right of the reaction emojis. Tap on it, write your reply, and, just like in WhatsApp, the message you’re replying to, will appear above your reply. Isn’t quite easy? This feature is quite useful as well, in a way that it will help to communicate via messaging app more effectively and will also clarify misunderstanding during conversations.

The social networking giant has started rolling out the new messaging reply feature to Facebook Messenger from yesterday, and it’s coming to both iOS and Android. And even desktop users are enjoying the feature. If you can’t see the new feature yet, try updating your app to the latest version of Messenger.

Impostors pose as CIA agents to steal Bitcoins in new blackmail scheme

If you thought that 2017’s crypto sextortion scam was the most creative form of amassing Bitcoins illegally, you clearly underestimate the lengths to which the scammers of our age are willing to go. A crypto investor on Reddit has confirmed that a group of people posing as Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agents is blackmailing individuals in order to force them to give up $10,000 worth of Bitcoin.

The post, entitled ‘CIA got me fam’, exposes the email campaign that is being used by these enigmatic blackmailers to fool victims into believing that they are the subject of an international criminal investigation.

So what’s the accusation being hurled at the unsuspecting users in the emails? They are being made to believe that their details have been found in a case list of 2000 individuals suspected of pedophilia in 27 countries.

The email goes on to state the date at which the first arrests are scheduled, and explains that the recipient in question is being contacted because he or she can make this entire thing go away by transferring 10,000 dollars in Bitcoin to the specified address, controlled by “Hong Lees”.

If this email appears legitimate to you, you are not alone. After all, the email domain is masked (.cia-gov.ga) and an image of the CIA crest has been included in the signature as well. It is a very well thought out ruse, but at the end of the day, it is nothing more than an illegitimate attempt by a group of people to con you into making them rich.

It is worth noting that the perpetrators have been smart enough to generate unique Bitcoin addresses in every email that they send out in order to make it trickier to track them down.

Moreover, each email also comes along with a random CIA agent name, therefore, Hong Lees isn’t the only one who’ll be gracing your computer screen, should you be unfortunate enough to receive such an email.

Malware alert! Crypto trading firms are under attack

A Trojan-style malware is attacking Israeli fintech and cryptocurrency trading firms in an attempt to get revenge. This Cardinal RAT malware was also spotted several years ago in 2017 and went largely undetected for almost two years. It appears that the virus has returned and is going after the cryptocurrency trading firms again.

What the virus did before, was to enter into the computer using a downloader called Carp and uses Microsoft Excel’s documents to compile the source code into a program which then deploys the malware into the system.

However, the updated version of the malware has resurfaced which is evading “detection and hinder analysis”, according to the researchers from Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42, an American multinational cybersecurity company.

The latest version of the Cardinal RAT virus applies a number of techniques to go through the analyzing systems undetected and making it more difficult to find it. One of the techniques include steganography, it refers to a class of programming approach that are used to obscure messages, files, and other important data.

The virus is loaded into the victim’s computer through the data embedded into a Bitmap (BMP) image file during installation. It looks harmless from the surface but when the image is opened, the embedded code decodes itself and initiate the attack.

The malware steals your passwords, usernames, and other sensitive data which then it sends back to the malware operators giving them the power to steal your cryptocurrency.

According to the report from Unit 42, the malware operators perform the following actions;

Collect victim information

Update settings

Act as a reverse proxy

Execute command

Uninstall itself

Recover passwords

Download and Execute new files

Keylogging

Capture screenshots

Update Cardinal RAT

Clean cookies from browsers

Two Cardinal RAT attacks have been observed since 2017, and according to Unit 42 both times the victims were fintech companies based in Israel. A total of 13 reports have been received until now, which include nine from Israel, two from the US and one each from Austria and Japan.

Oppo unveils its all new ColorOS 6 with several much needed optimizations

Oppo has officially revealed its updated custom user interface – ColorOS 6 with several exciting features. The updated Android OS is available on the Oppo F11 Pro and the Chinese smartphone giant has made several changes in the new OS as compared to its predecessor to enhance performance.

As far as the design is concerned, Oppo says that it has selected a border-less symmetry which is based on invisible lines and grids. With this symmetry, the applications will now present a superior full-screen experience with neat borders and other UI elements.

Oppo has selected a lighter color-tone for its new OS which is very much in resemblance with the Google Material Design language which is loaded with the white shade. However, there is a choice for users to change the color tone according to their desire through the theme engine.

In addition to the design-related improvements, there are other operational changes are also included in this new OS. For instance, the navigation panel now comes with a shortcut function and the newly added app drawer can be accessed through the swipe-up indication from the home screen.

The company also introduced a new feature to reduce battery consumption which is called “AI Cold Storage”. This feature uses artificial intelligence to freeze background apps to improve battery timing.

Another feature which the new ColorOs offers is the “Touch Boost” ability. The company has promised that with this feature the touch response will become 22% faster while the “Frame Boost” feature will improve the frame rate stability up to 40%. Both these abilities are included in the Game Boost 2.0 mode of the ColorOS.

The Game Boost is not the only new mode you will encounter in the new OS, The system also offers System Boost and App boost ability, which will improve the app launches and the general performance of the device. The system also comes with other improvements which include app notifications, night mode for photography etc.

The new ColorOS will be available in the new Oppo F11 Pro and the upcoming Oppo Reno smartphone, which is scheduled to launch on 10 April. Moreover, the company is also planning to update the Oppo Find X, Oppo R17, R17 Pro by August and Oppo R11, R11 Plus, R11s, R11s Plus, A7z, and A3 until September.

What seemed like plenty of storage space a few years ago is never enough in the here and now. That’s why the companies making computers, phones, and other gadgets are always rushing to pack in more and more bytes. Now, you can add an unprecedented amount of storage to your devices, provided there’s a microSD card slot. Both SanDisk and Micron have unveiled 1TB microSD cards at Mobile World Congress.

If you’ve spent any amount of time perusing gadget spec sheets, you’ve probably noticed talk about adding “up to 2TB” of storage with the microSDXC standard. This is technically correct, but it ignores that cards have never been that large. Manufacturers were just saying, “Hey, if someone makes a microSD card at 2TB, it will work with this device.”

In the last few years, we’ve reached several hundred gigabytes for top-of-the-line microSDSEEAMAZON_ET_135 See Amazon ET commerce cards — the last stop before the new 1TB cards was 400GB. There’s also a 512GB card in the new SanDisk lineup. SanDisk won’t have cards on sale until the second quarter, but it’s already decided on pricing. The 1TB card will cost you 450 dollars, more than twice as much as the new 512GB card at 200 dollars. Micron hasn’t announced a price yet, but it will be launching around the same time. Odds are it will sell its 1TB card a little cheaper.

Micron says it’s using quad-level cell (QLC) NAND in 96 layers. SanDisk didn’t specify its chip design, but it’s probably similar. SanDisk does claim higher overall speeds than Micron. The new 1TB card from SanDisk will support reads at 160MB per second and writes at 90MB per second. Meanwhile, Micron will manage 100MB per second reads and 95MB per second writes.

Both cards meet the speed requirements for the A2 standard, meaning they’re suitable for running applications. Although, most microSD cards are slower in practice, and most devices don’t attempt to run applications from SD cards. They’re mostly for bulk file storage. Although Nintendo Switch owners who are tired of running out of space for games on their consoles might see some benefit.

MicroSD cards rarely stay at MSRP for long, but it’ll take time before that $450 price tag drops into impulse buy territory. Most consumers will probably continue snapping up comparatively cheap 400GB cards. Those started at 250 dollars and are now often on sale for under 100 dollars.

அம்மாவை ஓத்தவன்

அன்று மைதிலி ஆண்டி தூங்கவே இல்லை இன்னைக்கு எப்படியும் அவள் மகன் ரகுவை கையும் கலவுமாக பிடிக்க வேண்டும் என்று என்னினாள்.அவள்மகன்ரகு வயது 16 தான் ஆகுது ஆனால் அவன் செய்யும் சேட்டைகள் அதிகம்.அப்பா இல்லாத பிள்ளை ஆச்சே என்று செல்லமாக வளர்த்தால் இப்படியா.இரவில் அவனை தனாமையில் விடாமல் தன் பக்கத்திலே படுக்க வைத்ததின் விளைவு பருவ கோளாறால் திணமும் இவள் தூங்கி பிறகு சில்மிஷம் செய்கிறான்.

திணமும் காலை இவள் எழுந்திரிக்கும் போது அவள் ஆடை களைந்து மார்புகள் ஜாக்கெட்டை விட்டு பிதுங்கி வெளியே இருக்கும்.எல்லாம் ரகுவின் வேலை தான் என்று யூகித்தவள் வழகாகமாக போடும் தூக்க மாத்திரையை போட்மல் படுத்து ரகுவிற்காக காத்திருந்தாள்.

சிறிது நேரத்தில் வந்த ரகு அவளது தலை முடியை இழுத்து பார்த்து அவள் சத்தம் போடாததால்நிம்மதி அடைந்தவனாக அவள் கண்ணத்தில் முத்தம் பதித்து விட்டு ஏன்டி இப்படி அழகா இருந்து உயிரை வாங்குற ஒன்ன பாத்தாளே என் சுண்ணி தூக்குது டி என்ற வாறே அவளது மார்புகளை பிசைந்தான்.மைதிலிக்கு கோபம் வந்தாலும் அவன் அவள் மார்பை பிடித்ததும் இன்ப அலை உடலெங்கும் பரவுவதை உணர்ந்தாள்.ரகு அவளது ஜாக்கெட் கொக்கிகளை அவிழ்த்து அவளது மாம்பழ மார்புகளுக்கு சுதந்திரம் கொடுத்தான்.பிரா போடாததால் அவளது குவிந்த மார்புகள் சரிந்தது மெல்ல அதன் மத்தியிலுள்ள காம்பினை கடித்து சப்பினான்.இன்னொரு முலையை பக்குவமாக பிசைந்து எடுத்தான்.அட சன்டாளபாவி அம்மாவையே இப்படி பண்ளானே என்று அவளது மனம் சொன்னாலும் அவன் பற்கள் அவளது மென்மையான காம்புகளை பற்றி இழுத்ததால் அவளுக்கு அடக்கபட்டிருந்த காம தீ பற்றி அவள் உடல் முழுவதும் பரவி அவள் கூதியில் மதண நீர் கசிந்தது.

அன்று நான் வீட்டை அடைந்த போது மணி பகல் பத்து கதவை திறந்த அம்மா உமா முந்தானை நழுவி பிதுங்கிய முலையுடன் நிற்க எனக்கு மூட் ஏறி அப்படியே அவளை கட்டிபிடித்து மார்பை பிசைந்தேன்.என்னை உள்ளே இழுத்து கதவை சாத்திய அம்மாவை கதவோடு அழுத்து பாவாடையை தூக்கி அவள் புண்டை மேட்டை தடவினேன் பிசு பிசுப்பாக இருந்தது .என் ஆடைகளைந்து அம்மணமானேன்.அவளது புண்டைகுள் சுண்ணியை திணிக்க முற்பட்ட போது என்னடி முண்டை இவ்ளோ நேரம் என்று கோபி மாமா வந்தவர் என்ன பார்த்து வாடா மாப்ள ஏன் லேட்டு உங்கம்மாள ஓத்திட்டிருந்தேன் இரண்டே குத்துதான் கஞ்சி விட்டுரேன் என் தன் பூலை உருவியபடி இருக்க அம்மா அம்மணமானாள். கோபி மாமா ஏன்டி தேவடியாக்களா சீக்கிரம் வாங்கடி எய்று குரலெழுப்பினார்.என் அத்தையௌ தூக்கியபடி அப்பா வந்தார் அத்தை கோமதி முணகியபடி இருந்தாள் அப்பாவின் பூள் அத்தையின் கூதியில்புதைந்திருந்தது .
அண்ணா விடாமல் குத்துங்க என்றபடி அத்தை கோமதி அப்பாவை கட்டி விடித்து கொண்டிருந்தாள்.அவளை தரையில் போட்டு எம்பி எம்பி அடித்து அப்பா ஓக்க ஆரம்பித்தார் சாரி மாபளை உங்கம்மாளை முடிச்சிட்டு வரேன் என்று மாமா என் அம்மாவின் கூதியில் பூலை நுழைக்க அம்மா ஆவலுடன் தன் கால்களை அகட்டி தன் அண்ணன் பூலை உள்ளே வாங்கினாள்.பக்கத்து அறையில் சத்தம் கேட்க மங்களம் மாமியை ரகு மாமா நாயை போல நிக்க வைத்து அடித்து ஓத்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.அவளது முலைகள் குலுங்க குலுங்க ஆ ஆ என்று கத்திகொண்டு ஓல் வாங்கினாள்.ரகு மாமா தன் பூலை அவள் புண்டையிலிருந்து எடுத்து மாப்ள ஓக்கறியா என்றார் இல்ல மாமா நீ முடிச்சுடு என்றேன்.அட என் மாப்ள இரண்டு குத்து குத்திட்டு குடு என்று நகர அவளது கூதியில் என் பூலை நுழைத்தேன்.மாமா ஏற்கனவே ஓத்ததால் சளக் என்று எளிதாக என் பூல் அவள் கூதியில் நுழைந்தது நான் மெல்ல என் இடுப்பை அசைத்து ஓத்தேன் ஆ ஸ் மெதுவாடா என்று மாமி மங்கள் முணகினாள். மாமாவை தேடினேன் காணோம் நான் ஓப்பதை நிறுத்த மாமா பார்வதி பாட்டியை தூக்கி கொண்டு வந்து முத்த மழை பொழிந்தார் அவளும் வெக்கமில்லாமல் அவர் பூலை ஊம்ப ஆரம்பித்தாள்.மாப்ள மங்களத்தை பங்குக்கு ஓங்கி அடிக்க பாட்டியின் உதடு மாமியின் உதட்டில் முத்தமிட்டது.மாப்ளை நீ ஓத்து பல நாள் ஆகிருக்கும் உன் இஷ்டபடி பண்ணு என்று மாமி என்னை கட்டி பிடிக்க அவளை மல்லாக்க போட்டு ஏறினேன் காலை நன்கு விரித்து என் பூலை உள்ளே வாங்கியவள் என்னை அனைத்து கொண்டு டேய் நீயாச்சும் என்னை கர்ப்மாக்கு என்று முத்தமிட சரிடி குட்டி என்று ஏறி ஏறி அடித்தேன் ஆ ஆ ஆ என்று அலறிகொண்டே மங்களம் ஓல் வாங்கினாள்.அவளது உருண்ட மார்புகளை பிசைந்தேன்.டேய் மெல்ல பண்ணுடா வலிக்குது கீழ வேணும்மணா குத்திக்கோ மாரை விட்ரு என்றாள் ஆமாம் பேராண்டி உன் அப்பனும் மாமன்களும் அவ மாரை பாசைந்து தள்ளிட்டாங்க என்று மாமாவிடம் ஓல் வாங்கியபடி பார்வதி பாட்டி புலம்ப ஏய் முண்ட ஓக்குறவனுக்கு காலை விரிக்கறது விட்டு அவ மாரை புடிகாத சூத்தை பிடிக்காதனு என்ன இது தேவடியா என்று மாமா அவளை காட்டுதனமாக ஓக்க சரியா சொன்ன மச்சான் இவளை சூத்தடிச்சாதான் சரி வருவா என்று அப்பா தன் பூலை கிளப்பி கொண்டு வந்தார்.நீ ஓத்த ஓலுக்கு இந்த விளம்பரம் தேவயா போடா தேவடாயா பையா என்றபடி அத்தை சிரித்தபடி வந்தாள்.பின்ன என்ன அண்ணன் இவன் அரை மணி ஓத்துட்டு இரண்டு சொட்டு தான் கஞ்சியை விட்டான் என்று சொல்ல ஆமாம்டி காய்ஞ்ச மாடு என் புருஷன் என்ன எருந்தாலும் உன் புருஷன் மாதிரி வராது கால் மணி நேரம் ஓத்தாலும் நிறைய கஞ்சி கொட்றான் என்றபடி தன் ஆப்ப கூதியை விரித்தபடி அம்மா நிற்க திணித்தாள்.எனக்கு கஞ்சி வருகிற மாதிரி இருக்க பாட்டியின் சூத்திலிருந்து என் சுணுணியை எடுத்து அவளை பிரட்டி போட்டு அவள் முகத்தில் என் சுண்ணியை வைத்து கஞ்சியை விட்டு தோசை மாவை தேயுபது போல் செய்து அவள் முகத்தில் என் கஞ்சியை அப்பிவிட்டு எழ முயன்றேன் பாட்டி என்னை அனைத்து பச் பச் என்று முத்தமிட்டு டேய் உங்க தாத்தாவிற்கு அப்புறம் என்னை கதறவிட்ட ஆம்பிளை நீ தான்டா என்று சொல்லி அம்மாவையும் மாமி அத்தையும் பார்த்து முண்டைகளா எல்லாம் அவன் காலில் விழுந்து தாலியை கழட்டி காலடியில் வைங்கடி என்று சொல்ல அனைவரும் அப்படியே செய்தனர் என் காலில் மூன்று பெண்களும் விழுந்து குணிந்து கொல்ல நான் அவர்களை பார்த்தேன் மூன்று பெண்கள் மூன்று ஜோடி முலைகள் என் முன் தொங்கியபடி அவர்கள் உடலசைவுக்கு ஏற்ப ஆடியும் குலுங்கியும் என்னை உசுப்பேத்தின. அம்மாவின் பெயிய மார்பில் மையமாக வடை போல பிரவுன் நிறத்தில் காம்புகள் இருக்க அத்தைக்கு சிறிய வட்டமான மார்புகள் மாமியின் மார்புகளோ கூர்மையாக மாங்காய் போலிருந்தன. அவைகளை ரசித்திருந்த என்னை பார்த்த பாட்டி டேய கண்ணா இந்த பொட்டச்சிங்களை பொண்டாட்டி ஆக்கிகோ என்று தாலியை எடுத்து கொடுக்க நான் அத்தை மாமி இருவருக்கும் தாலெயை கட்டினேன்.அம்மா என்னை ஏக்கத்துடன் பார்க்க அவளுக்கும் தாலியை கட்டினேன்.இத பாருங்கடி நீங்க இவனிடம் ஓல் வாங்கி கொழந்த பெத்துக்குற வரை இவன் தான் உங்க புருஷன் அத்தை கோமதி என் சுண்ணியை தடவியபடி இருந்தாள்.இன்னடி தேவடியா ஊம்பனுமா என்று நான் என் சுண்ணிய நீட்ட படக் என்று என் பூலை கவ்வி சப் சப் என்று சப்பினாள்.மாமியை பார்த்து கவுச்சி நாத்தம் செமய வருதுடி மங்ளா என்றதும் கொடுடி நான் கொஞ்ம் சப்புறன் என்று மாமி என் சுண்ணியை சப்பியவாறே என் பூலின் முனையில் தோல் பகுதியை நீக்கி பாருடி பாலாடை மாதிரி படிந்திருக்கு என்று நாக்கால் அதை நக்கி சுவைத்தாள்.அம்மாவின் கரல் காணோம் இருடி தேவடியாளுங்களா அம்மா புண்டை எங்கடி என்று திரும்ப அறையின் மறுபக்கம் ஒரு மூலையில் அப்பாவும் ரிஉ மாபாவும் ஒன்றாக அவளை ஓத்துகொண்டிருக்க ம் ம் என்று அம்ம கணத்த குரலில் முணகினாள் .ஏய் டேய் வேணாம டா என்று அவள் கதறும் கத்தம் கேட்க கோபி மாமா ஏற்கனவே என் அப்பாவின் பூல் நுழைந்து கிழித்து கொண்டிருந்த அம்பா புண்டையில் அவர் பூலை சொருக அம்மா திணறினாள். ரகு மாமா தண்ணந்தனியாக அம்மா சூத்தில் பூலை போட்டு ஓத்து கொண்டிருக்க நான் என் பூலை அவள் சூத்துக்குள் நுழைக்க பார்த்தேன் டேய் பாவி உயிர் போகுதுடா என்று கத்தினாள்.சரி போடி முண்டை என்று திட்டி விட்டு அவள் வாயில் பூலை விட்டு ஓத்தேன் ஒரே சமயத்தில் நாலு பேரும் மூர்க்கதனமாய் அம்மாவை ஓத்து கிழித்தோம்.

Here’s the list of some dead Google products resting in its graveyard

Google is popular for its wide range of products from Search to YouTube to Android. But not everything the tech giant touches turns to gold.

The technology behemoth Google that values over $750 billion is known for its innovative work done over the course of two decades in almost every field of technology. However, it is also a fact that the best innovations are the ones that everybody thinks are doomed to fail. So it does make sense that Google has had its fair share of losses over the years. There are more than 40 Google products that are either dead, or they are about to die. Whereas the products which were re-branded by Google could form another such list. However, we have come up with a list of 8 dead Google products that you must have heard before.

1. Google+

The tech giant announced that Google Plus support will be ended in around a month. Google+ was an Internet-based social network. It was deemed as Google’s rival for social networking sites like Facebook and Snapchat. It was almost 8 years old.

2. Google Allo

Killed 10 days ago, Google Allo was an instant messaging mobile app by Google. It is said to be re-branded as Google Chat. It lived for two years only.

3. Inbox by ××××××

The support for Inbox By ×××××× is about to end in 8 days. Inbox by ×××××× aimed to improve email through several key features. It was almost 4 years old.

4. Google URL Shortener

About to die in 8 days, Google URL Shortener, also known as goo.gl, is a URL shortening service. It was launched in 2010. The service no longer accepts new users since April 13, 2018, and will discontinue the service for existing users by the end of this month. From 1st of April, all links will continue to redirect to the intended destination.

5. Google Talk

Google decided to discontinue Google Talk almost six years ago. Often remembered as ‘GChat’, Google Talk was a messaging service for both text and voice using XMPP. Afterward, Google advised users to start using the desibees.in app.

6. Google News and Weather

Died 5 months ago, Google News & Weather was a news aggregator application developed by the search giant Google. Last year in May, Google announced that it was merging Google Play Newsstand and Google News & Weather into a single service, called Google News. It was available for both Android and iOS operating systems. It was launched back in 2016.

7. Google Chrome Apps
Google Chrome Apps were hosted or bundled web applications that ran on Google Chrome’s web browser. The product lived from 2010 to 2017.

8. Google Wave
Google Wave was an online communication and collaborative real-time editor tool. It was launched in 2010 and was discontinued in 2012 because there just weren’t enough active users. The IP was later transferred to Apache when the development was discontinued.

Microsoft Windows Defender now available for Apple iMac users

Microsoft has launched its Windows Defender antivirus software for macOS today. The software company is renaming its old Windows Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) to Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). With a dedicated Defender ATP client for Mac, the software offers full virus threat protection mixed with the old features like, “Quick” or “Full Scan”.

A limited preview will be available for the companies who have both the Windows PCs and Macs in their offices, to test out the new antivirus software. This will help the software company to analyze what further improvements are required by the Windows Defender. Microsoft is also using its AutoUpdate software on macOS to keep the clients up-to-date with the new features. This feature will soon be available for devices running macOS High Sierra, macOS Sierra, or macOS Mojave.

Windows Defender software was first launched as an anti-spyware solution for Windows XP, which later became a permanent part of Windows Vista and Windows 7. With the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft developed Windows Defender into a full antivirus solution, as a replacement for Microsoft Security Essentials. Today, this software is helping to protect Windows 10 as Windows Defender Antivirus.

Microsoft decided to create ATP when they realized that every organization has different kinds of devices through which they operate and not all of them run Windows. With Windows Defender now supporting macOS, the companies can use Microsoft’s security tool without the struggle of integrating some other security software jot for their Macs.

For now, ATP is available for businesses only, and it is not yet clear whether Microsoft will launch the consumer version of this software for Mac users or not. Last year, Microsoft released APPFactory (Apprenticeship Factory) in Pakistan, to develop the digital skills and coding capabilities of young ICT graduates. Also, Microsoft released the preview version of its new Chromium-based browser in Feb 2019.
